A well balanced diet is essential for all children learning and developing and never more so when this learning is taking place outside. Children who eat healthily and limit processed and sugary foods are able to concentrate for longer periods of time, their brains function more quickly and are able to process information much faster. Children are also given the energy they need to explore the setting and access the wonderful learning possibilities on offer. Children will also fight infections and viruses more successfully, leading to less illness and time away from learning.
ADO Mini-Explorers Outdoor Preschool give children to chance to get hands on with food and cookery. Children grow food and are given the chance to taste and share with their parents. Children are able to watch seasonal fruit and vegetables grow and ripen. Children cook over the campfire for a truly different and exciting experience.
ADO Mini-Explorers provide healthy snacks for the children throughout the day and staff discuss healthy eating and fitness. We offer organic milk from our provider Cool Milk and we include a range of organic vegetables for snack and meal times. We also offer organic salad sourced from our Soil Association accredited partner who is a local based provider at our Keats site in Welling. Children have snacks and lunch outside or in our roundhouse and are encouraged to talk and bond with staff and children.
